Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
343 PM EDT Sun Apr 30 2017

.DISCUSSION...

A large low pressure system was over Missouri with a warm front
extending across the Ohio Valley and a cold front trailing into
the Gulf of Mexico. This system will move northeast tonight and
Monday, pushing a strong cold front through the eastern United
States. Winds will be strong and gusty, especially at higher
elevations, out of the south tonight. As the front crosses
on Monday winds turn to the southwest then west. Strong winds
will continue through Monday night. Up to one half inch of rain
is likely on Monday.

Weak high pressure follows the front with drier weather
for Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will return to normal
behind the front.

Another large low pressure system will develop in the southern
plains on Thursday. As this system moves slowly east, widespread
precipitation is expected in the Mid Atlantic region Thursday
and Friday. Below normal temperatures are possible.
