HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION
NWS ALASKA PACIFIC RIVER FORECAST CENTER ANCHORAGE AK
300 PM AKDT MON JUN 26 2017

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

THE FLOOD POTENTIAL IS LOW FOR ALASKA.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION....

AN UPPER LEVEL LOW HAS NEARLY COMPLETED ITS TRANSITION ACROSS THE
PANHANDLE THIS MORNING PRODUCING LINGERING SHOWERS ALONG THE
SOUTHERN HALF OF THE SOUTHEAST. BEHIND IT A FAST EASTWARDLY MOVING
RIDGE WAS READY TO TAKE OVER GIVING THE PANHANDLE A MUCH NEEDED
BREAK IN THE WEATHER THAT SEEMS TO HOLD ON UNTIL WEDNESDAY MORNING.

MEANWHILE THE BIGGER PLAYER IN THE WEATHER WILL BE THE BERING SEA
LOW THAT CONTINUES TO TRACK JUST NORTH OF THE THE ALEUTIANS THEN
INTO THE CENTRAL BERING SEA BY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE ASSOCIATED
OCCLUDED FRONT HAS ALREADY PUSHED THROUGH THE SOUTHWEST MAINLAND
WHERE IT LOSES ITS STRENGTH INTO TUESDAY. THE MUCH NEEDED RAIN IN
THE SOUTHWEST BEGINS IN ERNEST MONDAY MORNING AND SPREADS INTO
SOUTHCENTRAL THROUGH THE DAY.

PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS ON DAY ONE SHOULD BE RELATIVELY LIGHT THEN
PICK UP ON DAY TWO AND THREE. ON DAY TWO AMOUNTS OVER THE SOUTHWEST
SHOULD RANGE BETWEEN A QUARTER OF AN INCH IN THE LOW LANDS TO AN
INCH OR MORE IN PORTIONS OF THE AHKLUN AND KENAI MOUNTAINS AS WELL
AS THE ALEUTIAN RANGE. RAIN PERSISTS INTO DAY THREE WITH AMOUNTS
TAPERING OFF.

...PRECIPITATION...

SELECTED 24 HOUR PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS ENDING AT 4 AM AKDT TODAY:
