...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR MAY/25/15 TORNADO EVENT...
...ACCOUNTS FOR PREVIOUSLY NON SURVEYED TORNADO DAMAGE...

.OVERVIEW...THE CALENDAR HAS CHANGED YET THE SURVEYS REMAIN. A SURVEY
CREW INVESTIGATED A LONG PATH OF WIND DAMAGE AND TORNADO DAMAGE IN FANNIN
COUNTY...FROM A TORNADO WHICH OCCURRED ON MEMORIAL DAY.

THE CREW FOUND EVIDENCE OF A WEAK TORNADO...WHICH PRODUCED A DAMAGE PATH
OF JUST UNDER 6 MILES. THE DAMAGE WAS NOT CONTINUOUS AND WAS MIXED AT TIMES
WITH DAMAGE FROM A STRONG STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. THE TORNADO ITSELF PRODUCED
EF-0 DAMAGE WHICH WAS CONSISTENT WITH 80 TO 85 MPH WINDS.

THE TORNADO BEGAN ABOUT 3 MILES NORTH OF THE IVANHOE COMMUNITY...AND TRAVELED
EAST AND NORTHEAST THROUGH THE DUPLEX COMMUNITY..THEN TO AN AREA NEAR ELWOOD.
THE TORNADO FIRST PRODUCED DAMAGE TO TREES...AND SEVERAL BARNS AND SMALL SHEDS
NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF FANNIN COUNTY ROAD 2035 AND FM 2554. THE TORNADO
MOVED GENERALLY EAST-NORTHEAST AND PRODUCED DAMAGE TO SEVERAL TREE LINED
COUNTY ROADS IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE COUNTY. THE DAMAGE CONTINUED TO
NEAR ELWOOD...WHERE SEVERAL TREES WERE UPROOTED OR HAD LARGE LIMBS BROKEN.
SOME OF THESE TREES FELL ON HOUSES...CAUSING ADDITIONAL DAMAGE.

WITH THIS TORNADO FROM LAST WEEK...THIS BRINGS THE TOTAL FOR THE YEAR TO 57 IN
THE WFO DALLAS/FORT WORTH COUNTY WARNING AREA.
