MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES AND CHILLY CONDITIONS WERE ON TAP ACROSS EASTERN
KENTUCKY THIS MORNING. A FEW VALLEY LOCATIONS ALSO REPORTED SOME
DENSE FOG...WITH VISIBILITIES OF A HALF MILE OR LESS AS WELL. 7 AM
TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM THE MIDDLE 30S IN THE SHELTERED VALLEYS TO
THE LOWER 40S ON THE RIDGE TOPS. NORMAL LOWS FOR LATE OCTOBER ARE IN
THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 40S. THE FOG BURNT OFF BY MID MORNING...AS LATE
MORNING SUNSHINE HELPED WARM THE MERCURY INTO THE MIDDLE 50S TO
AROUND 60 DEGREES BY NOONTIME.

CLOUDS MOVED INTO EASTERN KENTUCKY THIS AFTERNOON...MAKING SKY
CONDITIONS RANGE FROM PARTLY SUNNY TO CLOUDY. MID AFTERNOON
TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE MIDDLE AND UPPER 60S...WHICH IS SEASONABLE
FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.

DRY AND MILD CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE UPCOMING WEEKEND
AND THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK AS HIGH PRESSURE SPREADS ACROSS THE
REGION. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL STEADILY INCREASE THROUGH THE WEEKEND
INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH HIGHS BY MONDAY CLIMBING TO AROUND 80
DEGREES. A COLD FRONT WILL PUSH EAST ACROSS THE AREA LATE TUESDAY
AND TUESDAY NIGHT...PRODUCING OUR NEXT CHANCE FOR RAIN. MORE
SEASONABLE TEMPERATURES WILL RETURN BY WEDNESDAY.

ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...EASTERN KENTUCKY WAS IN THE MIDDLE
OF A HEAT WAVE BACK IN 1991. FROM OCTOBER 24TH TO THE 27TH...TEMPERATURES
SOARED INTO THE MIDDLE 80S EACH DAY...SETTING FOUR CONSECUTIVE DAILY
HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS AT THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE.
