...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HASTINGS HAS ISSUED A HYDROLOGIC
OUTLOOK FOR POTENTIAL RIVER FLOODING...

.THE RIVER GAUGE AT THE PLATTE RIVER NEAR KEARNEY INDICATES THE
RIVER IS AT 5.9 FEET AND HOLDING STEADY. THE CURRENT FORECAST CALLS
FOR THE RIVER LEVEL TO REMAIN NEAR 5.9 FEET TONIGHT INTO
SATURDAY...AND THEN SLOWLY DECREASE SATURDAY EVENING INTO SUNDAY.
FLOOD STAGE IS 6.0 FEET AND AS A RESULT...A FLOOD WARNING IS NOT
CURRENTLY IN EFFECT. THAT BEING SAID...IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT
STRONG THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED OVER THE REGION THIS
WEEKEND...AND HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THIS ACTIVITY.
SHOULD HEAVY RAIN BE OBSERVED OVER THE PLATTE RIVER UPSTREAM FROM THE
KEARNEY AREA...THEN IT IS POSSIBLE THE RIVER LEVEL COULD RISE ABOVE
5.9 FEET. AS A RESULT...PEOPLE WITH INTERESTS ALONG THE
PLATTE RIVER THROUGH SOUTHERN BUFFALO COUNTY SHOULD CONTINUE
MONITORING THE RIVER LEVEL.
