DAWSON NE-
1138 AM CDT WED JUN 3 2015

...THE FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 AM CDT FRIDAY FOR
CENTRAL AND WESTERN DAWSON COUNTY...

CONTINUED HIGH FLOW IN THE PLATTE RIVER WILL RESULT IN MINOR
FLOODING IN DAWSON COUNTY THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. THOUGH THE
RIVER GAGE AT COZAD HAD DROPPED BELOW THE 6.5 FEET FLOOD STAGE AND
DOWN TO 6.4 FEET...MINOR FLOODING WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR IN THE
COUNTY. EXPECT THE RIVER TO REMAIN AT OR NEAR CURRENT LEVELS
THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND POSSIBLY INTO NEXT WEEK...BEFORE A MORE
SIGNIFICANT FALL IN WATER LEVELS WILL OCCUR. THIS ASSUMES LIMITED
OR NO ADDITIONAL RAINFALL INTO THE BASIN. PEOPLE WITH PROPERTY
INTERESTS ALONG THE RIVER SHOULD CONTINUE TO PROTECT THOSE
INTERESTS AND KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON RIVER LEVELS.

SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE... RURAL
AREAS...AND LOWLANDS ADJACENT TO THE PLATTE RIVER UPSTREAM OF
OVERTON IN DAWSON COUNTY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
