FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR S CENTRAL NE AND N CENTRAL KS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE
436 AM CDT TUE OCT 28 2014

.DISCUSSION...DRY CONDITIONS ARE IN THE FORECAST FOR THE NEXT
SEVERAL DAYS. CURRENT WINDS ARE ON THE LIGHT SIDE AND
WESTERLY...AS SFC HIGH PRESSURE SITS OVER THE ROCKIES AND HIGH
PLAINS. THROUGH THE DAYTIME HOURS TODAY...THAT SFC HIGH WILL
CONTINUE TO SLIDE EAST ONTO THE PLAINS...AND IS EXPECTED TO SETTLE
IN RIGHT OVER THE AREA LATER THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. ONCE THE
SUN COMES UP...MIXING POTENTIAL WILL BE ON THE INCREASE...AND
NORTHWESTERLY WINDS ARE ONCE AGAIN EXPECTED TO PICK UP...MAINLY
ACROSS SC NEB. SPEEDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS NEAR 25 MPH ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF SC NEB...CLOSER TO THE NE/KS STATE LINE
AND INTO NC KS...SPEEDS CLOSER TO 10 TO 15 MPH ARE EXPECTED. HIGH
TEMPERATURES TODAY WILL BE ON THE COOLER SIDE...TOPPING OUT IN THE
MID 50S TO MID 60S...BUT DRIER AIR IN PLACE AND DEWPOINTS EXPECTED
TO FALL INTO THE 20S WILL RESULT IN RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES
FALLING TO BOTH SIDES OF 25 PERCENT BY MID AFTERNOON.
