Fire Weather Forecast For Central/NE South Dakota WC MN
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
844 PM CDT Sat May 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Surface high pressure will be over the region to start the day off
Sunday. A light southerly wind should be developing by Sunday
sunrise across much of South Dakota. There should also be an
increase in cloudiness by morning, along with chances for showers
and thunderstorms. Not much moisture is expected with any morning-
time precipitation. However, by the end of day-time heating on
Sunday, stronger thunderstorms, could develop out across and west of
the Missouri River valley. The potential is there for some of these
storms to produce severe weather; hail up to an inch or strong and
damaging winds, or both. There should be a notable moisture feed
surging northward into the region on Sunday. This should result in
the afternoon relative humidity values only dropping as low as 45 to
50 percent. The rain chances persist, at least, into Sunday evening.
And, there will also be a wind shift occurring from west to east
from early Sunday evening to early Monday morning, where the south
or southeast wind switches around and becomes a north or northwest
wind.
