Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...

Winds will remain breezy out of the southeast with gusts of 35 to
near 45 mph, and slowly diminish from west to east into Friday
morning. Relative humidity values will stay at or above 60 percent early
Friday morning through the weekend. Low pressure shifting northeast
from Colorado to Kansas and Minnesota Saturday morning will pushing a
wetting rain across the region. The initial surge of rain showers
will overspread the area during the evening and overnight hours.
While there will be breaks in the showers they will continue through
Friday evening, and slowly diminish on Saturday. The rain showers may
be accompanied by thunderstorms through Friday evening. Total
rainfall of a half to inch an a half of rain is expected, with the
highest over far eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. An
additional round of showers will move across the area on Sunday.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is
some potential for a fire to spread.  Any outdoor burning should be
closely monitored.


The outlook for Friday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Friday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
