KEY MESSAGES: - Dry conditions are expected through the weekend but lighter winds will decrease fire weather concerns. - Strong winds and rain expected on Tuesday with a shift in the weather pattern. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Slight upper ridge remains over Montana as a series of low pressure systems spin through the central Rockies and lift across the Plains toward the upper Midwest. This will keep northeast Montana generally warm and dry through the weekend. A more zonal pattern next week is still favored by the ensembles into next week with a series of shortwaves leading to a more progressive weather pattern and thus the potential for showers at times. Strongest shortwave will push through on Monday night into Tuesday. CONFIDENCE AND POTENTIAL DEVIATIONS FROM BASE FORECAST: Predictability for shower chances is improving for early next week, with good agreement on wave pushing through the state Monday night into Tuesday. Strong winds are also a possibility on Tuesday with cold air advection and tight pressure gradient. && .AVIATION... Mostly VFR will continue through tonight, with some low clouds near the North Dakota border this morning, then mid level clouds moving into the region. && .GGW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
