URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...CHRISTMAS DAY STORM MAY BRING SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL TO THE
MOUNTAINS...WITH SOME SNOW ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE IN THE VALLEYS...

.ON CHRISTMAS MORNING SNOW WILL SPREAD INTO EASTERN COLORADO AND
WESTERN UTAH AS A WINTER STORM MOVES ACROSS THE REGION. SNOWFALL
IN THE MOUNTAINS AND HIGHER VALLEYS WILL INCREASE THROUGHOUT
CHRISTMAS DAY. THE LOWER VALLEYS SHOULD SEE SNOWFALL EARLY IN THE
MORNING...POSSIBLY MIXING WITH RAIN DURING THE DAY. AFTER A COLD
FRONT PASSES BY MIDDAY TO EARLY AFTERNOON...RAIN IN THESE VALLEYS
WILL CHANGE OVER TO ALL SNOW BY NIGHTFALL. SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE
OVERNIGHT AND INTO FRIDAY EVENING.

A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR VARIOUS MOUNTAIN RANGES
AND PLATEAUS OF WESTERN COLORADO...AND FOR THE EASTERN UINTA
MOUNTAINS OF EASTERN UTAH...FOR CHRISTMAS DAY THROUGH FRIDAY
EVENING.

THIS STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO GREATLY IMPACT HOLIDAY TRAVEL
OVER ALL THE HIGH MOUNTAIN PASSES AND ALONG INTERSTATE 70.
MOUNTAIN PASSES MAY BECOME SNOWPACKED AND ICY WITH REDUCED
VISIBILITY ON CHRISTMAS DAY...FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT.

  CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...IN EXCESS OF ONE FOOT POSSIBLE.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35
  MPH...SHIFTING TO THE WEST CHRISTMAS EVENING AND THEN
  DECREASING.

* IMPACTS...HOLIDAY TRAVEL COULD BE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED ESPECIALLY
  ALONG HIGHWAY 550 OVER RED MOUNTAIN...MOLAS AND COAL BANK
  PASSES...AND ALONG HIGHWAY 145 OVER LIZARD HEAD PASS. ROADS MAY
  BECOME SNOWPACKED AND ICY WITH VISIBILITY REDUCED IN SNOWFALL
  AND BLOWING SNOW.
