...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1989, Twenty cities in the central U.S. reported record high
temperatures for the date. Russell Kansas was the hot spot in the
nation with a reading of 101 degrees.

In 2007, nine tornadoes occurred during the late morning and early
afternoon hours, mostly along and north of highway 40 in Cheyenne
County Colorado. Although some tornadoes lasted 15 to 20 minutes,
most occurred over open country and damage was minimal.
