Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
147 PM CDT Thu May 2 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Critical relative humidity continues for locations behind the
dryline. Winds remain weak over the next several days but elevated
to near critical fire weather remains possible. Our next weather
system on Monday brings stronger winds and more widespread
critical fire weather potential that may continue into the middle
part of next week. Depending on how widespread rainfall is this
weekend will dictate how far east the critical conditions develop.
At this time, areas to the south and west of the Pecos are
expected to remain mostly dry, maintaining areas of very dry
fuels. Recoveries remain poor to the west and good to excellent to
the east.
