Hydrologic Outlook
National Weather Service Pueblo CO
351 PM MDT Tue May 14 2024

...SPECIAL HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK...

This outlook is primarily for western Las Animas and Huerfano
Counties at elevations below 11,000 feet.

This outlook is valid from May 14 to May 17, 2024.

The potential for increased runoff and inundation of low-lying
areas, due to accelerated snowmelt potential, is higher than
normal in western Las Animas and Huerfano Counties.

...OUTLOOK FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS...

Recent storms producing snowfall along the east slope of the Sangre
de Cristo Mountains has led to above normal mountain snowpack
conditions for the middle of May in western Las Animas Huerfano
Counties.

A storm system is expected to impact the area beginning Wednesday
afternoon, May 15, and last through the early morning hours on
Friday, May 17. This system has the potential to produce rainfall
for areas below 11,000 feet with total precipitation amounts ranging
from 0.25 to 0.5 inches. The potential for rainfall on top of the
remaining snowpack may lead to accelerated snowmelt and runoff.

While flooding of area creeks and waterways is not anticipated at
this time, minor inundation of some roadways and low-lying areas
from accelerated snowmelt runoff could be possible through Friday.
