FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
257 PM EDT MON MAY 25 2015

.DISCUSSION...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED OFF THE COAST OF THE
CAROLINAS WILL DIRECT AN ONSHORE FLOW ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA
GOING INTO MIDWEEK. A MOIST SOUTH-SOUTHEAST LOW-LEVEL FLOW...
COMBINED WITH ATMOSPHERIC INSTABILITY FROM AFTERNOON HEATING
AND POSSIBLE SHORTWAVE ENERGY...WILL PRODUCE ISOLATED TO SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THIS ACTIVITY WILL FAVOR THE PIEDMONT...
NORTHWEST MIDLANDS AND THE CSRA.

A WEAK PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL SUPPORT POOR DISPERSION TONIGHT INTO
TUESDAY MORNING...ALTHOUGH SOME CLOUDINESS WILL INHIBIT FOG
FORMATION. ONLY LIGHT FOG IS EXPECTED.

WINDS BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON WILL BE GENERALLY FROM THE SOUTH...
WITH SPEEDS OF 5 TO 10 MPH NEAR THE SURFACE AND 10 TO 15 MPH
IN THE MIXING LAYER. MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL BE IN THE
45 TO 50 PERCENT RANGE.
