Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
252 PM EDT Wed Aug 16 2017

...Afternoon heat index values topping 100 degrees are expected
through Thursday and possibly on Friday...

.DISCUSSION...Moisture will remain high through Friday with a
trough of low pressure providing a focus for isolated to scattered
showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours.

Hot and humid afternoon conditions will persist each day outside
of any showers. A weak pressure gradient will support poor
dispersion tonight and Thursday night from late evening through
the early morning hours. Poor radiational cooling conditions will
restrict any fog formation to locations near river valleys.

Surface winds Thursday will be very light and variable after
daybreak, then become south-southwest by afternoon around 5 mph.
Transport winds will become west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Relative humidities will drop into the 45 to 50 percent range.
