FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
432 AM CDT WED SEP 17 2014

.DISCUSSION...
A NORTHWEST WIND FLOW ALOFT WILL PREVAIL ACROSS NORTHERN
ALABAMA THROUGH THURSDAY...WITH A COOL AND DRY AIRMASS BEING
MAINTAINED BY LIGHT NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS AT THE SURFACE. A
FEW UPPER-LEVEL DISTURBANCES MOVING THROUGH THE NORTHWEST FLOW
ALOFT MAY RESULT IN PERIODS OF ENHANCED CLOUDINESS FROM TODAY
THROUGH TOMORROW BUT DRY LOW-LEVEL AIR WILL LIMIT THE THREAT FOR
RAIN. TRANSPORT WINDS IN THE 5-10 MPH RANGE WILL LEAD TO ONLY
FAIR SMOKE DISPERSION BOTH DAYS.

AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD ACROSS THE
REGION TOWARD THE END OF THE WORK WEEK...WITH A MODEST WARMING
TREND EXPECTED. HOWEVER...RAIN CHANCES WILL NOT INCREASE UNTIL
LATE IN THE WEEKEND OR THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK...AS A
STRONGER DISTURBANCE MOVES ACROSS THE REGION. ANOTHER VERY COOL
AND DRY AIRMASS IS EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE SOUTHEASTERN U.S.
DURING THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.
