Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
220 PM CDT Sun Apr 30 2017

.DISCUSSION...

A line of showers and strong to severe thunderstorms will continue
to move east across northern Alabama this afternoon. Some of these
storms could produce damaging winds and a few tornadoes. Additional
showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of a cold
front later this evening. Some of these storms could be severe
producing damaging winds.

Winds will be strong today and a Wind Advisory is in effect from
10AM to 10PM for all areas. Sustained winds around 25 mph with gusts
up to 35 mph, out of the south, is likely. Widespread rainfall is
likely with storm total amounts around 2-3 inches with locally
higher amounts possible through Monday morning.

Southerly winds will decrease slightly overnight but shift to
the southwest by Monday and increase once again but remain
sustained around 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Minimum RH values
today will be above 50 percent given the increased moisture. After
the front moves through overnight, slightly drier and cooler air
moves in for Monday. Highs drop into the lower 70s and minimum RH
values will be 28 to 35 percent.

Dry weather returns by Monday afternoon and remains until we see
our next chance of rain Wednesday night.

Fog potential over the next few days: Due to strong gusty winds,
fog is not expected to develop.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: No red flag conditions are
expected, but relative humidity will drop to below 30 percent on
Tuesday.
