Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Middle Tennessee
National Weather Service Nashville TN
605 AM CST Wed Dec 13 2017

...Borderline Red Flag Conditions Possible This Afternoon Over
Eastern Middle Tennessee...
...Marginal Fire Danger Elsewhere This Afternoon...

.DISCUSSION...Strong southwesterly winds and low humidities will
produce a marginal fire danger in the Mid-State this afternoon.
Eastern areas, over the Cumberland District, are expected to have the
lowest afternoon relative humidities of around 25 percent and could
reach Borderline Red Flag Criteria this afternoon.

Winds today are expected to be out of the southwest, increasing to
between 15 and 25 mph by this afternoon, with gusts between 30 and
40 mph. The strongest winds are expected over northwestern Middle
Tennessee, although winds will be gusty area-wide.

There are plans to hold a coordination call between National Weather
Service and Forestry Service officials later this morning to
determine if a Red Flag Warning is needed for later today. In
addition, we will be closely monitoring weather trends throughout the
remainder of the day and assessing any possible changes in the Mid-
State fire danger.

Today is expected to be driest of the next seven days, with minimum
afternoon relative humidities climbing to 45 to 55 percent by
Thursday.
