FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
225 PM PDT SAT AUG 27 2016

...GRADUAL COOLING TREND ALONG WITH INCREASING CHANCE OF SHOWERS FOR
FOR THE COMING WEEK WEEK...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...SEASONABLE WEATHER ON TAP ACROSS THE REGION
THROUGH MONDAY. WILL SEE ONSHORE FLOW GRADUALLY INCREASE OVER NEXT
FEW DAYS...WITH MUCH COOLER WEATHER FOR THE COMING WEEK. WILL ALSO
SEE INCREASING CHANCE OF SHOWERS FROM TUESDAY THROUGH REST OF THE WEEK
AS LOW PRESSURE DROPS INTO THE REGION FROM THE NORTHWEST.

.DISCUSSION...THERMAL LOW PRESSURE THAT SAT OVER WESTERN OREGON AND
WASHINGTON THE PAST FEW DAYS WILL REMAIN EAST OF THE CASCADES FOR THE
NEXT WEEK. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR GRADUALLY INCREASING ONSHORE FLOW OVER
THE SEVERAL DAYS AND A SLOW COOLING TREND. LOW CLOUDS WILL PUNCH A
BIT FURTHER INLAND ON SUNDAY...BUT LIKELY NOT LASTING TOO LONG OVER
THE INTERIOR. SIMILAR PATTERN FOR MONDAY...THOUGH CLOUDS WILL NOT
BE AS FAR INLAND. WITH THE ONSHORE FLOW...EXPECT BREEZY WEST WINDS
INTO THIS EVENING AND AGAIN SUNDAY ON EASTERN SLOPES OF THE
CASCADES INTO THE COLUMBIA BASIN AND THROUGH THE COLUMBIA GORGE.

UPPER LOW PRESSURE WILL APPROACH THE REGION ON TUESDAY. FLOW ALOFT
WILL TURN MORE SOUTHWESTERLY. PROBLEM MAY ARISE WITH THIS PATTERN
AS THERE IS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST.
THE FLOW ALOFT WILL PULL THIS DISTURBANCE NORTHEAST ACROSS NW
CALIFORNIA AND SOUTHERN OREGON. AS SUCH...WILL SEE ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP OVER THE SOUTH OREGON CASCADES AND EASTWARD.
WILL KEEP A SLIGHT CHANCE AS FAR NORTH AS MT HOOD...AS STILL MAY
HAVE SOME WIGGLE SPACE ON THE MODELS AS TO THE DISTURBANCE`S FINAL
TRACK.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY LOOKS TO BE UNSETTLED...WITH PLENTY OF
CLOUDS AND VARYING DEGREES OF ONSHORE FLOW...ALONG WITH SOME
SCATTERED SHOWERS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE MORE LIKE THAT OF LATE
SEPTEMBER. FCSTR...ROCKEY.
