FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
319 PM PDT FRI JUL 11 2014

...THUNDERSTORM THREAT TO CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY...
...HOT BUT HUMID WEATHER EXPECTED TO CONTINUE WELL INTO NEXT WEEK...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A BAND OF SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS
ARE BEGINNING TO CROSS THE DOUGLAS/LANE COUNTY LINE THIS AFTERNOON.
THESE WILL CONTINUE TO PUSH NORTHWARD ACROSS NORTHWEST OREGON INTO
THIS EVENING. HOT...HUMID AND SOMEWHAT UNSTABLE CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED SATURDAY...BUT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD BE MORE
CONFINED TO THE CASCADES. MORE WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
ARE EXPECTED AS A MORE SUBSTANTIAL DISTURBANCE MOVES THROUGH SUNDAY.

.DISCUSSION...A BAND OF ELEVATED SHOWERS AND A FEW EMBEDDED
THUNDERSTORMS IS MOVING NORTHWARD ACROSS OREGON THIS AFTERNOON...
ASSOCIATED WITH A WEAK UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OFFSHORE. THIS SYSTEM
WILL CONTINUE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDER ACROSS THE DISTRICT THIS
EVENING...WHICH WILL END AS THE DISTURBANCE MOVES FURTHER OFFSHORE
AND WEAKENS. SATURDAY WE WILL BE BETWEEN DISTURBANCES...SO THERE
SHOULD BE PLENTY OF SUNSHINE FOR TEMPERATURES TO CLIMB WELL INTO
THE 90S FOR MOST OF THE INLAND VALLEYS. ENOUGH MOISTURE AND
INSTABILITY WILL BE LEFT BEHIND FOR SOME CUMULUS BUILDUPS AND
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE CASCADES SATURDAY AFTERNOON. AS
MENTIONED EARLIER...A MORE SUBSTANTIAL DISTURBANCE IS EXPECTED TO
MAKE A DIRECT HIT OF NORTHWEST OREGON SUNDAY...LEADING TO MORE
WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. DEPENDING ON THE TRACK AND
TIMING...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THIS TO BE A PROLIFIC LIGHTNING
EVENT SUNDAY OR SUNDAY EVENING. THIS SYSTEM WILL TAP INTO DEEP
MONSOON MOISTURE...SO THERE IS A DECENT CHANCE FOR SOME OF THE
STORMS TO PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN. AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL
BUILD BACK ACROSS THE DISTRICT MONDAY AND TUESDAY...KEEPING THE
WEATHER HOT BUT HUMID WELL INTO NEXT WEEK. WEAGLE
