FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
835 AM PDT FRI MAY 27 2016

...BELOW NORMAL DAYTIME TEMPERATURES TODAY AND SATURDAY...
...TURNING MUCH WARMER AND DRIER MID TO LATE NEXT WEEK...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL BE THE
PRIMARY WEATHER FEATURE THROUGH SATURDAY. THE TROUGH WILL RESULT IN
BELOW NORMAL DAYTIME TEMPERATURES THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. LONGER
RANGE CHARTS SHOW A MUCH WARMER AND DRIER PATTERN DEVELOPING TUESDAY
AND HOLDING THROUGH AT LEAST THURSDAY.

.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL IMPACT THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST THROUGH SATURDAY. THE MAIN ENERGY WILL BE NORTH AND EAST
OF THE FORECAST AREA. SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO BE NEAR THE
CASCADES PASSES TODAY...BUT GENERAL PRECIPITATION WILL BE SPOTTY.
FAIRLY STRONG ONSHORE LOW-LEVEL FLOW CONTINUES SATURDAY. MODELS SHOW
A WEAK SYSTEM BRUSHING THE NORTHERN ZONES SATURDAY...FOR A THREAT OF
SOME LIGHT PRECIPITATION FROM ABOUT MT. HOOD NORTHWARD. A RETURN TO
WARMER AND DRIER CONDITIONS BEGINS MEMORIAL DAY AS A STRONG RIDGE
DEVELOPS OFF THE COAST. LATEST MODEL GUIDANCE IS IN PRETTY GOOD
AGREEMENT SHOWING THE STRONG RIDGE MOVING OVER THE REGION TUESDAY
AND WEDNESDAY. A SURFACE THERMAL TROUGH FORMS ALONG THE COAST MONDAY
NIGHT AND TUESDAY RESULTING IN OFFSHORE LOW-LEVEL FLOW. EXPECT POOR
HUMIDITY RECOVERY IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS BEGINNING MONDAY NIGHT
ALONG WITH MID-LEVEL HAINES 5 TO 6. THE PATTERN BEGINS TO BREAK DOWN
LATE NEXT WEEK...WHICH MAY LEAD TO A THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS.

NOTE: DAILY INTERNET BRIEFINGS WILL BEGIN TUESDAY MAY 30 AT 0940
PDT. SAME PHONE NUMBER AND PASSCODE AS BEFORE.
