Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
525 AM CST Mon Feb 19 2018

.DISCUSSION...
Warm and breezy today with low to mid 60s for the most part this
early morning. The warm front stretches across W and S AR and
continues Northward with well above average highs today. DeQueen
is still 58 sheltered in the lower valley, but the front is to
their North already. Radar is showing a band of showers and
isolated thunderstorms from Bogota and Clarksville to Idabel and
Gillham and this activity is lifting NE with the front. Gusty
Southerly winds will sustain in the mid teens, but gusts to 25 or
30 mph will be common for much of the area today. A Lake Wind
Advisory has been issued for today.

An approaching cold front will fortify that exiting line of
activity and refocus the push back into our area. This will be a
slow process drifting back into play late Tuesday and much of
Wednesday, amounting to training showers and thunderstorms, many
heavy during midweek that will help bring an end to more of our
recent drought. The big trough in upper air will hang over the
West coast and keep a moist SW flow aloft for our area well beyond
midweek and through this coming weekend albeit less focused as
the next cold front will be much weaker, but bring drier weather
for at least the start of next week. More rain arrives by next
midweek to end what will be a very wet month overall, and not
seen since August of last year.
