Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
351 PM CDT Sun Aug 20 2017

.DISCUSSION...
This afternoon an inverted upper trough of low pressure moving West,
over parts of Louisiana, that was associated with a low in the
central Gulf of Mexico, combined with hot afternoon temperatures and
a moist and unstable atmosphere to produce showers and thunderstorms.
The storms initially were moving slowly to the Northwest, but as
outflow boundaries from dissipating storms, produced cool outflow
boundaries allowing the convection to increase speeds to the Northwest.
Locally heavy rainfall fell in some locations with amounts to near one
to one and one half inches on early development, but lower amounts as
speeds increased. The upper low will continue to shift to the West
and will continue to help with convection into the early week.
Additional cloud cover and more convection will allow for possibly
cooler temperatures and lower heat indices into mid week. The better
chances for rain will be from mid week into late week with the
approach and passage of a cold front. This boundary looks to become
nearly stationary over the fire districts for the start to the weekend
and then lifts back to the Northeast as a warm front during next weekend.
This late week and weekend event will provide cooler than usual temperatues
and a wet period.
