...STRONG WINDS BECOMING MORE WIDESPREAD TONIGHT AND ESPECIALLY
FRIDAY...

.An upper level low pressure system will approach the Four Corners
steering a strong jet stream over the southwest and south central
mountains tonight, then over eastern New Mexico on Friday. A
Pacific cold front will also cross from the west on Friday
afternoon helping to mix the stronger flow aloft downward to the
surface. Southwest winds to 50 mph will be common, except near 60
mph in the south central mountains. Winds will gradually weaken
toward sunset Friday evening.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 7 PM MDT
FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a High
Wind Warning, which is in effect from midnight tonight to 7 PM
MDT Friday. The High Wind Watch is no longer in effect.

* LOCATION...South Central Mountains and Southwest Chaves County.

* WINDS...Southwest 35 to 45 mph with occasional gusts to 60 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will strengthen after midnight, then peak
  toward mid day Friday before gradually decreasing.

* VISIBILITY...Localized restrictions in blowing dust likely.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured objects may become airborne, a few
  power lines may topple over and roofs may be damaged. Power
  outages will be possible. Cross winds will be dangerous,
  especially for vehicles on northwest-to-southeast oriented
  roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remember, A High Wind Warning means damaging winds are imminent
or highly likely. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from midnight tonight to 7 PM MDT
Friday.

* LOCATION...Southwest Mountains.

* WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will strengthen through the evening, then peak in
  strength during the overnight hours through Friday morning,
  before gradually weakening on Friday afternoon and early
  evening.

* VISIBILITY...Locally reduced in dust-prone locations.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured, lightweight objects may become
  airborne. Cross winds will pose difficult driving conditions,
  especially for high profile vehicles on northwest-to-southeast
  oriented roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

* LOCATION...Northeast, East Central and South Central Highlands;
  Lower Rio Grande, Upper Tularosa and Estancia Valleys; Sandia
  and Manzano Mountains; Eastern Lincoln County; Chaves, De Baca,
  San Miguel and Harding Counties; and Raton Ridge.

* WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts near 50 mph

* TIMING...Winds will strengthen early Friday afternoon, then peak
  in strength during mid to late afternoon, before weakening
  through early evening.

* VISIBILITY...locally reduced in dust prone locations.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured, lightweight objects may become
  airborne. Cross winds will pose difficult driving conditions,
  especially for high profile vehicles on northwest-to-southeast
  oriented roads.
