SURVEY_SUMMARY:
SEVERAL WITNESSES OBSERVED A TORNADO TO TOUCH DOWN IN LOVELADY
TEXAS AND TRACK FOR JUST UNDER A MILE BEFORE LIFTING NEAR THE
LOVELADY SCHOOL...ABOUT 1 MILE NORTH OF THE CENTER OF TOWN.

THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NEAR AN AREA WITH MOBILE HOMES...THEN
TRACKED TOWARD THE NORTH NORTHEAST WITH AN INTERMITTENT DAMAGE
PATH. TORNADO LIFTED JUST BEYOND THE LOVELADY SCHOOL. THE WORST
DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE MOBILE HOMES. TWO LARGE TREES WERE UPROOTED
AND FELL INTO ONE MOBILE HOME WHICH SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE
CENTRAL PART OF THE STRUCTURE. THIS MOBILE HOME WAS MOVED OFF ITS
FOUNDATION BUT REMAINED UPRIGHT. RESIDENT WAS AT HOME BUT SUFFERED
ONLY MINOR INJURIES AS SHE WAS NOT IN THE PART OF THE HOME THAT
WAS MOST SEVERELY DAMAGED. ANOTHER SINGLE WIDE TRAILER ADJACENT TO
THAT STRUCTURE WAS ROLLED OFF ITS FOUNDATION. THIS DID NOT APPEAR
TO BE AS WELL TIED DOWN. A THIRD TRAILER ABOUT 50 YARDS TOWARD
THE NORTH NORTHEAST HAD ITS ROOF PEELED OFF. THE DAMAGE WAS RATED
EF1 IN THIS AREA BASED ON NUMEROUS LARGE TREES BEING UPROOTED AND
THE DAMAGE TO THE TRAILERS.

SOME MINOR DAMAGED OCCURRED AT THE SCHOOL WHERE SOME CEILING PANELS
WERE LIFTED OFF NEAR AN ENTRANCE TO THE SCHOOL AND NUMEROUS LARGE
LIMBS WERE STRIPPED OFF TREES. THE DAMAGE WAS RATED EF0 IN THE
SCHOOL AREA.

THE TIME OF THE EVENT IS ESTIMATED TO BE BETWEEN 445 AND 450 PM.
WITNESSES INTERVIEWED WERE NOT CERTAIN OF THE EXACT TIME...WITH
SOME SAYING AROUND 5 PM...OTHERS BETWEEN 430 AND 5 PM. RADAR
SIGNATURES WERE NOT VERY STRONG AND NOT DEFINITIVE EITHER IN TERMS
OF FIXING A TIME...BUT DID SHOW A SHOWER NEAR LOVELADY AROUND 445
PM...SO DID GO WITH 445 PM FOR TIME OF TOUCHDOWN. IF WE CAN FIX A
MORE EXACT TIME...THIS REPORT WILL BE UPDATED.

THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO THE FOLLOWING
CATEGORIES.

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH
EF2...STRONG....111 TO 135 MPH
EF3...STRONG....136 TO 165 MPH
EF4...VIOLENT...166 TO 200 MPH
EF5...VIOLENT...>200 MPH

NOTE:
THE INFORMATION IN THIS STATEMENT IS PRELIMINARY AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE
PENDING FINAL REVIEW OF THE EVENT AND PUBLICATION IN NWS STORM
DATA.
