Public Information Statement

...The Statewide Tornado Drill is ON for today...

While skies will be cloudy today, no thunderstorms will occur across
the state. Therefore, the Wisconsin Tornado Drill Committee have
decided that the statewide tornado drill is officially on for today.

If severe weather was possible in the afternoon or evening, the test
would have been postponed to the following day. However, there is
no chance of severe weather today, so the test will proceed as
planned.

As a reminder, there will be a test Tornado Watch issued at 1pm and
then a test Tornado Warning at 145pm which both end at 2pm. There
will then be an evening test Tornado Warning which will be sent at
645pm and end at 7pm. There will not be a test Tornado Watch issued
with the evening test. Also, Milwaukee County will not be sounding
their sirens with the evening test, but you can still be part of the
test.

Cell phones will not be alerted via the Wireless Emergency Alerts
along with other apps as this is not a true Tornado Warning. NOAA
Weather Radio will be activated along with many local outdoor
warning sirens which are run by city and county governments. EAS
will also be alerted on TV and radio.

This drill is the perfect time to talk about your plans if a tornado
or severe weather hits. Where is your shelter at work, school or
home? Talk with your family about what you do.
