Subject: Changes in Flood Categories and Flood Forecast Services for
Shoal Creek near Joplin, Mo

Effective at 1200 Coordinated Universal Time, or 600 AM CST on
Wednesday, January 31, 2018, NWS Springfield will change the
following flood category stages for Shoal Creek near Joplin, MO.

1) The Action Stage, or river level when flood forecasts are
generated, will change from 12 Feet to 7 Feet.

2) The Flood Stage will change from 14 Feet to 11.5 Feet.

3) Moderate Flood Stage will change from 15 Feet to 16 Feet.

4) Major Flood Stage will change from 16 Feet to 18 Feet.

Also, this location will change from a flood-only forecast point to
a daily forecast point.

These changes are being made in coordination with Newton County
Emergency Management and local emergency personnel, the Arkansas
Basin River Forecast Center and National Weather Service Central
Region Headquarters.
