Tallahassee...

...November was much colder and wetter than normal for Tallahassee...

The average monthly temperature for November recorded at the
Tallahassee Regional Airport was 54.3 degrees, or 5.9 degrees below
normal making it the 3rd coldest November on record for Tallahassee.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 82 degrees on
the 5th and the lowest was 22 degrees on the 19th, which set a new
record for that date. There were no other temperature records tied
or broken. There were six days with minimum temperatures at or
below freezing, three more than normal, including a hard freeze
on the 19th.

Rainfall at the Tallahassee Regional Airport for November measured
6.92 inches, or 3.42 inches above normal. This amount was nearly
double what we would normally see in the month even though there was
measurable rainfall on only six days, one below normal. The first 16
days of the month were dry. When it finally rained on the 17th,
it was the first time the airport had received measurable rain
since October 14th. Most of the monthly rainfall fell in four
consecutive days from the 22nd through the 25th. In that four day
period, the airport recorded at least 1.50 inches of rain each
day, which established a new rainfall record. There are eight
other occurrences in Tallahassee`s history of three consecutive
days with at least 1.50 inches of rain. The most rain in a 24-hour
period this past November was 1.79 inches on the 22nd, which
established a new record for that day. There were four days with
thunder at the airport, two above normal. The peak gust recorded
at the airport was 36 mph from the northwest on the 1st.

The outlook for December from the Climate Prediction Center calls
for below normal temperatures and equal chances of experiencing
above, near normal or below normal rainfall. The average monthly
temperature for November is 53.2 degrees with normal rainfall of
3.90 inches.
