...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR SOUTH COASTAL
PLAINS OF PUERTO RICO LATE THIS MORNING AND AFTERNOON...

DRY PATTERN HAVE PERSISTED ACROSS SOUTHERN PUERTO RICO THE LAST FEW
DAYS. EVEN MORE DRYING IS EXPECTED LATER TODAY...AHEAD OF THE NEXT
TROPICAL WAVE. AS A RESULT...MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL BE
AROUND 50-55 PERCENT AT CABO ROJO AND GUANICA...WHILE IN CAMP SANTIAGO
SHOULD DECREASE TO AROUND 40-45 PERCENT. 20-FOOT WINDS FROM THE EAST
OF 15-20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS OF 25-30 MPH. A RED FLAG WARNING MAY
NEED TO BE CONSIDERED IF THE 8 AM AST SOUNDING INDICATES SUBSTANTIALLY
WINDIER OR DRIER CONDITIONS.

FIRE AND EMERGENCY OFFICIALS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING MORE CONDUCIVE FOR THE IGNITION AND
SPREAD OF WILDFIRES.

FIRE DANGER STATEMENTS ARE ISSUED WHEN FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE APPROACHING...BUT NOT MEETING OR EXCEEDING...RED FLAG WARNING
