...MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND ILLINOIS RIVER ICE STATEMENT...

                ICE COVER CONDITIONS AS OF 12/05/17

MISSISSIPPI RIVER
NO ICE HAS BEEN REPORTED YET ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

WATER TEMPERATURES WERE 34 TO 40 DEGREES FROM LD1 TO LD13, 40 TO
44 DEGREES FROM LD14 TO LD22, AND 40 TO 49 DEGREES FROM LD24 TO
LD27. WATER TEMPERATURES HAVE NOT CHANGED MUCH IN THE PAST WEEK
WITH MAINLY DRY AND RELATIVELY WARM WEATHER.

ILLINOIS RIVER SYSTEM (CHICAGO/ILLINOIS R)
NO ICE HAS BEEN REPORTED YET ON THE ILLINOIS. WATER TEMPERATURES
RANGED FROM 44 TO 53 DEGREES.

CURRENT CONDITIONS AS OF 12/05/17:

OUTLOOK FOR NEXT 7 DAYS:
A STRONG COLD FRONT SWEPT ACROSS THE UPPER MIDWEST LAST NIGHT
USHERING IN THE COLDEST WEATHER OF THE SEASON SO FAR.

AIR TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW NORMAL THROUGH
NEXT WEEK.  NO MAJOR ARCTIC OUTBREAKS ARE INDICATED IN THE
WEATHER MODELS -- JUST SEASONABLY COLD TEMPERATURES FOR THE
NEXT 5 TO 7 DAYS.

LOW TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS IN
THE NORTH WITH SOME 20S ON SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.  HIGHS IN THE
NORTH WILL BE MAINLY BELOW FREEZING.  IN THE SOUTH...HIGHS WILL
GENERALLY BE IN THE 30S AND 40S WITH LOWS IN THE TEENS AND 20S,
AND 20S AND 30S EARLY NEXT WEEK.

IN OUR REGION...LOW TEMPERATURES THIS MORNING WERE 15 DEGREES
IN ST CLOUD, 18 DEGREES IN THE TWIN CITIES, 24 DEGREES IN
DUBUQUE,28 DEGREES IN MOLINE, 28 DEGREES AT LD19, 31 DEGREES
IN PEORIA, AND 35 DEGREES IN ST LOUIS.

BASED ON THESE FACTORS...WE SHOULD SEE SOME ICE DEVELOPMENT
NORTH OF ABOUT LOCK AND DAM 10 BY EARLY NEXT WEEK, ESPECIALLY
IN SHELTERED, CALM AREAS; OTHERWISE NO ICE FORMATION IS
EXPECTED THROUGH NEXT TUESDAY.

THE NEXT ICE STATEMENT WILL BE RELEASED ON TUESDAY..DEC 12 2017.
