...CONFIDENCE INCREASING ON DETAILS FOR SIGNIFICANT STORM SYSTEM
WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY...

A POTENT WEATHER SYSTEM CURRENTLY OVER THE WEST CENTRAL GULF
WILL MOVE INTO THE EASTERN GULF WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND ACROSS THE
PANHANDLE THURSDAY. POTENTIAL IMPACTS FROM THIS SYSTEM INCLUDE
SIGNIFICANT DISRUPTION TO MARINE AND AVIATION OPERATIONS AS WELL
AS POWER OUTAGES.

THE WEATHER SYSTEM WILL GENERATE STORM FORCE WINDS OF 50 KT WITH
SEAS BUILDING TO BETWEEN 25 AND 30 FEET OVER THE NORTHERN GULF
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE SPREADING INTO THE EASTERN GULF LATE
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND EARLY THURSDAY. HURRICANE FORCE WIND GUSTS OF
75 KT ARE POSSIBLE NEAR THE FAIRWEATHER GROUNDS TONIGHT. AS FOR
LAND AREAS, HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS UP TO 50 MPH WILL AFFECT
YAKUTAT AND THE NORTHEAST GULF COAST WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY MORNING. WINDS ALONG THE OUTER COAST INCLUDING ELFIN
COVE...SITKA...AND PRINCE OF WALES ISLAND WILL INCREASE LATE
WEDNESDAY NIGHT PEAKING EARLY THURSDAY WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 45
MPH. WINDS WILL SPREAD INLAND OVER THE INNER CHANNELS WITH GUSTS
TO 40 MPH IN MOST LAND AREAS AND SMALL CRAFT TO GALE FORCE WINDS
THROUGHOUT THE INSIDE MARINE WATERS.

THIS SYSTEM WILL ALSO PRODUCE A PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN AS IT PUSHES
INLAND. HEAVY RAIN WILL LINGER LONGEST OVER THE NORTHEAST GULF
COAST WHERE 3 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN WILL FALL BETWEEN WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON AND THURSDAY NIGHT. OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE
PANHANDLE 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN WILL FALL WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH
THURSDAY NIGHT. RISES ARE EXPECTED ON STREAMS AND RIVERS BUT LOW
WATER LEVELS AT THIS TIME COMBINED WITH THE RELATIVELY QUICK
MOVING NATURE OF THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL KEEP THE FLOODING THREAT
LOW.

THIS STATEMENT WILL UPDATED BY 4 PM AKDT WEDNESDAY OR SOONER IF
CONDITIONS WARRANT.
