Until 630 PM EDT

At 435 PM EDT, a large area of showers with embedded heavy rainfall
was moving northward at 50 mph through parts of the Mountain Empire,
New River Valley, and into southeast West Virginia. Rainfall rates
of up to two inches an hour are possible on top of wet ground, could
be enough to cause minor flooding in many small streams, as well as
flooding of urban areas and poor drainage areas.

Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with these showers. With the
heavy rain, a few trees could come down in the gusty winds in
isolated locations.

Locations impacted include...
Bluefield...
Pulaski...
Wytheville...
Galax...
and Bland.

Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Slow down in
heavy rain due to reduced visibilities and the possibility of
hydroplaning.
