...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 1962, WEST WINDS GUSTED TO 55 MPH IN DENVER, BRIEFLY REDUCING
THE VISIBILITY TO 1 1/2 MILES IN BLOWING DUST AT STAPLETON AIRPORT.
THE STRONG WINDS BLEW ALL DAY.

IN 2008, STRONG NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WERE GUSTING ACROSS MUCH OF THE HIGH
PLAINS REGION. THE PEAK WIND GUST AT GOODLAND KANSAS REACHED 63 MPH.
NUMEROUS TREE BRANCHES WERE BROKE ACROSS TOWN AND A SHED WAS BLOWN OFF
OF ITS FOUNDATION. POWER LINES WERE REPORTED DOWN IN OAKLEY KANSAS AND
POWER POLES WERE DOWN IN BREWSTER KANSAS.
