...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 2004, FLOODING OCCURRED ON THE LADDER CREEK ACROSS NORTHERN
WICHITA COUNTY KANSAS. HIGHWAY 27 WAS CLOSED FOR A TIME, AS WELL
AS A NUMBER OF RURAL ROADS IN THE COUNTY, WHERE STANDING WATER WAS
SLOW TO DRAIN. THE FLOODING WAS THE RESULT OF HEAVY RAINS WHICH FELL
THE PREVIOUS NIGHT DURING A THUNDERSTORM IN SOUTHERN WALLACE COUNTY.

IN 2007, A HEAT BURST OCCURRED AT TRIBUNE KANSAS DURING THE
MORNING, ACCOMPANIED BY WINDS OF 67 MPH. THE TEMPERATURE ROSE
FROM 77 DEGREES TO 95 DEGREES IN 15 MINUTES AROUND 8 AM.
