...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 1935, PRAIRIE DOG CREEK RUNNING TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST FROM COLBY
REACHED A CONSIDERABLE HEIGHT BEYOND REXFORD, AND ISOLATED OBERLIN
AND OTHER TOWNS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

IN 2011, TWO TORNADOES DEVELOPED DURING THE EVENING HOURS NORTH OF
BENKELMAN, NEBRASKA, AND A THIRD DEVELOPED NORTH OF MCCOOK.  FORTUNATELY,
ALL THREE TORNADOES REMAINED OVER OPEN FIELDS AND WERE RATED EF0 ON THE
ENHANCED FUJITA DAMAGE SCALE.
