...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 2005, FREEZING RAIN DEVELOPED OVER NORTHWEST KANSAS FROM
GREELEY AND WICHITA COUNTIES NORTHEAST TO GOVE, GRAHAM AND
NORTON COUNTIES. FREEZING RAIN BROKE TREE LIMBS IN NORTON COUNTY.
THE FREEZING RAIN TURNED TO SNOW BY THE LATE MORNING WITH
ACCUMULATIONS OF TWO TO FOUR INCHES COMMON ACROSS THE AREA.
THE HEAVIEST SNOW OCCURRED NEAR THE NEBRASKA BORDER IN NORTON
AND DECATUR COUNTIES WHERE FIVE INCHES WAS REPORTED.
TWO FATALITIES OCCURRED WITH THIS EVENT IN SEPARATE CAR ACCIDENTS
ON ICY ROADS.
