...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 2003, A WIDESPREAD AREA OF SNOW FELL ACROSS NORTHWEST KANSAS. THE SNOW
WAS ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG WINDS WHICH GUSTED TO 40 MPH. THE COMBINATION OF
SNOW WITH THE WINDS PRODUCED DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS AND BRIEF PERIODS
OF NEAR ZERO VISIBILITIES. THE HEAVIEST SNOW OCCURRED EAST OF A LINE FROM
RUSSELL SPRINGS TO LENORA KANSAS WHICH REPORTED SEVEN INCHES OF SNOW.
