...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 1997, THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH BLEW IN OR SHATTERED
WINDSHIELDS ON 5 VEHICLES IN ATWOOD KANSAS. THE AWNING ON THE
RAWLINS MUSEUM WAS BROUGHT DOWN AND THE ROOF ON THE COURTHOUSE WAS
DAMAGED.

IN 2011, FOUR TO FIVE INCHES OF RAIN FELL ACROSS PARTS OF THE TRI-
STATE AREA RESULTING IN FLASH FLOODING.  MANY COUNTY ROADS WERE
IMPASSIBLE OR COMPLETELY WASHED OUT FOR MUCH OF THE DAY ACROSS
LOGAN, GOVE, SHERIDAN, NORTON AND WICHITA COUNTIES.
