URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...HIGH IMPACT WINTER STORM TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...

.A MAJOR WINTER STORM IS STILL EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE REGION
TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY. FREEZING RAIN WILL BEGIN TO DEVELOP IN
SOUTHERN KANSAS AND MOVE NORTH. WHILE A FEW SHOWERS CANT BE RULED
OUT MOST OF TODAY WILL REMAIN DRY WITH MEASURABLE FREEZING RAIN
SPREADING SOUTH TO NORTH THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT TONIGHT
CHANGING TO SLEET SUNDAY. THIS WILL BE A PROLONGED EVENT WITH ICE
ACCUMULATIONS OCCURRING THROUGH THE DAY SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT
PARTICULARLY IN PARTS OF NORTHWEST KANSAS. HEAVY SNOW IS STILL
POSSIBLE LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY. LOCATIONS IN THE ICE
STORM WARNING ARE STILL ON TRACK TO HAVE IMPACTS TO BOTH TRAVEL
AND THE POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES...THOUGH THERE
COULD BE A DELAY ON THE ICING ONSET UNTIL LATER THIS EVENING.

  WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES...TREE DAMAGE ALSO POSSIBLE.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...AROUND ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH.

* TIMING...FREEZING RAIN WILL BEGIN THIS EVENING. ACCUMULATING
  ICE WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT BEFORE A CHANGE TO SNOW
  ON MONDAY. ALL PRECIPITATION SHOULD END MONDAY AFTERNOON.

* WINDS...EAST 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 20 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE UPPER 20S.

AN ICE STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN FREEZING RAIN WILL ACCUMULATE
TO AT LEAST ONE QUARTER INCH...RESULTING IN A THICK COATING OF
ICE ON ROADS...POWER LINES AND TREES. TRAVEL WILL BE EXTREMELY
DANGEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
