Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
345 AM CDT Tue Apr 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain low today and Wednesday under upper-
level ridging, despite critical relative humidity each day over
the higher terrain. Thursday through Sunday, critical to near-
critical fire weather conditions will develop as a series of
upper-level storm systems move through the region, increasing
20-ft winds, mainly across Southeast New Mexico and adjacent areas
of West Texas. The most critical day looks to be Saturday, with
the arrival of the secondary storm system. Relative humidity will
bottom out at 6-44% this afternoon, and 7-49% Wednesday. Recovery
overnight will be poor in some areas west of the Pecos, but
moderate to excellent elsewhere.
