Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Interior Alaska

.DISCUSSION...A series of disturbances lifting northwest across
the Interior through the end of the work will continue to support
showers each day. Thermal low pressure from Eagle to Tanana this
afternoon will drift northward over the northeast Interior on
Thursday. Southerly chinook winds will develop tonight, over the
eastern Alaska Range with wind gusts to 60 mph expected through
early Thursday morning. Winds will diminish through the day
Thursday. At this time it looks like the strongest winds will be
tonight and early Thursday morning and not during the driest part
of the day, so not anticipating Red Flag conditions at this time.
However, near Red Flag conditions from Delta Junction to Donnelly
Dome are possible early Thursday afternoon. Southerly winds will
persist through the end of the week near Delta Junction although
not as strong as tonight. Near Red Flag conditions are expected
once again Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon with Saturday
afternoon being the driest of the next 3 days.
