.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will bring cold and dry weather tonight.
Breezy and milder weather arrives on Tuesday with increasing clouds.
A low pressure system will bring some rain and a localized high
elevation rain snow mix Tuesday night through Wednesday before drier
weather returns for the end of the week.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/...
As of 1030 pm EDT...A 1020 hPa sfc high continues to build in
over eastern NY and New England tonight with clear skies and
lightening winds.

The 00Z KALY sounding is bone dry and looks like a desert
sounding with a PWAT of 0.22". It will remain clear early on
with the strong subsidence from the ridge.

Ideal radiational cooling is expected tonight with clear/mostly
clear skies and light to calm winds. Some cirrus may move into
locations west of the Capital District and southern VT towards
daybreak. Lows will be in the chilly in the 20s to lower 30s.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Low level ridging builds east of our region Tuesday as warm
advection increases. South winds will be a bit breezy at times.
Good mixing along with sunshine will help temperatures climb to
60s for highs, with around 60 higher terrain.

Upper energy approaches from the Great Lakes and OH Valley
Tuesday nigh and exits Wednesday into Wednesday night. The
associated cold front and low level forcing along the leading
edge of cold advection and wind shift will track through on
Wednesday. Showers move into the region Tuesday night, continue
through Wednesday and exit Wednesday evening. A rumble of
thunder cannot be ruled out, especially south of the Capital
Region but too small a chance to include at this time. Highs
Wednesday in the 50s, with around 60 mid Hudson Valley and some
40s southern Adirondacks. Temperatures expected to fall through
the afternoon in many areas with the colder air spreading into
the region. Rain showers end as a mix of rain and snow showers
in the southern Adirondacks and southern Green Mountains.

Clearing Wednesday night and sunshine Thursday. Highs Thursday
in the 50s with around 50 higher terrain.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
Upper level ridging and low level warm advection builds into our
region Friday through the weekend. Upper energy in the central
U.S. will track around the northern periphery of the upper
ridging Saturday into the beginning of next week. So, while
there will be a warm up, chances for showers each day. Highs
Friday and Saturday in the mid 50s to lower 60s. Highs Sunday
and Monday in the 60s to lower 70s.

.AVIATION /03Z TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
High pressure will remain in control tonight and move offshore
on Tuesday with VFR conditions the next 24 hours ending at
KALB/KGFL/KPOU/KPSF prior to 00Z/WED. Some mid and high clouds
will increase tomorrow afternoon ahead of the next system.

The winds will become calm or light and variable at 3 KT or less
tonight. They will increase from the south at 8-15 KT in the
late morning into the afternoon tomorrow with some gusts 20-25
KT.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Dry weather will be in place across the region through Tuesday.
Temperatures will rebound into the 60s by Tuesday. Mostly sunny
conditions are expected today with a gradual increase in clouds
on Tuesday.

RH values lower to 25 to 35 percent on Tuesday with southerly
winds gusting to around 25 mph by the afternoon hours.

A period of rainfall is expected Tuesday night through Wednesday
before drier weather returns for the end of the week.
