AND PRECIPITATION...WITH MUCH BELOW NORMAL SNOWFALL...

THE AVERAGE JANUARY TEMPERATURE IN ROCHESTER WAS 14.8 DEGREES WHICH
WAS 0.9 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 21.9
DEGREES WHILE THE AVERAGE LOW FOR THE MONTH WAS 7.8 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 39 DEGREES ON THE 30TH...WHILE
THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 21 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ON THE 18TH.

A TOTAL OF 0.75 INCHES OF LIQUID PRECIPITATION FELL DURING THE MONTH
OF JANUARY...WHICH WAS 0.11 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THE GREATEST 24
HOUR TOTAL WAS 0.35 INCHES...WHICH FELL FROM THE 7TH TO THE 8TH.

SNOWFALL TOTALED JUST 5.7 INCHES...WHICH WAS 6.3 INCHES BELOW NORMAL
FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY. THE GREATEST ONE-DAY SNOWFALL TOTAL FOR
JANUARY WAS 1.6 INCHES WHICH FELL ON THE 8TH. SEASONAL SNOWFALL
THROUGH JANUARY 31ST WAS 21.4 INCHES...WHICH WAS 10.0 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL.

THE AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURES DURING THE MONTH WERE ABOVE NORMAL
FOR 20 OF THE 31 DAYS. HOWEVER...8 DAYS DURING THE MONTH WERE
SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW AVERAGE WITH THE COLDEST DAY BEING THE 17TH WHEN
THE HIGH ONLY REACHED 8 BELOW. IT WAS ALSO DURING THIS TIME PERIOD
THAT THE TEMPERATURE REMAINED BELOW ZERO FOR 68 HOURS 15
MINUTES...FROM 6:39 PM ON THE 16TH AND CONTINUING THROUGH 12:54 PM
ON THE 19TH. THIS WAS THE LONGEST STRETCH OF SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES
SINCE JANUARY 2009. SNOWFALL FOR THE MONTH ONLY TOTALED 5.7 INCHES
WHICH WAS THE LEAST AMOUNT IN JANUARY SINCE 2013 WHEN ONLY 1.9
INCHES FELL.

ON AVERAGE...FEBRUARY IS THE THIRD COLDEST MONTH OF THE YEAR IN
ROCHESTER WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 20.3 DEGREES. THE
AVERAGE HIGH FOR THE MONTH IS 28.1 DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW IS
12.4 DEGREES. EVEN THOUGH FEBRUARY IS QUITE COLD...TEMPERATURES
SLOWLY WARM DURING THE MONTH AS THE AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE
INCREASES FROM 17 DEGREES ON THE 1ST...TO 25 DEGREES ON THE 29TH.
