Weather Summary for North-Central and Northeast Wisconsin
National Weather Service Green Bay WI
206 PM CST Thu Jan 19 2017

While low clouds and fog persisted across central and east-central
Wisconsin this afternoon, northern Wisconsin enjoyed mostly sunny
skies and warm temperatures. High temperatures ranged from the
lower 30s where the fog was the thickest, to the lower to middle
40s in the far north where the sun was prevalent.

Skies will become cloudy throughout all of northeast Wisconsin
this evening, as a mid-level area of low pressure moves northeast
into the Midwest. As this low pressure reaches the Upper
Mississippi Valley later tonight, expect to see a band of mixed
precipitation to lift north into Wisconsin. Temperatures are
forecast to hover around the freezing mark and with surface
temperatures also around freezing, this would lead to a wintry mix
of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow. Ice accumulations are
expected to be at one-tenth of an inch or less. This could lead
to slippery stretches on area roadways and sidewalks by daybreak.

This mid-level low pressure is system is expected to weaken over
the Upper Mississippi Valley on Friday. As temperatures edge
upward into the middle 30s, most of the mixed precipitation will
change to all rain by late morning or early afternoon. Additional
ice accumulations are expected to be under one-tenth of an inch.

In addition to the mixed precipitation, areas of fog will continue
to reduce visibilities on area roadways. Motorists may experience
rapid changes in visibilities and are urged to slow down to a safe
speed.
