...FOG LIKELY TO SLOW THE TRIP TO WORK FOR SOME COMMUTERS THIS
MORNING...

LIGHT WINDS OVERNIGHT COMBINED WITH A RATHER HUMID AIR MASS ACROSS
THE AREA RESULTED IN THE FORMATION OF FOG OVERNIGHT. CONDITIONS
ACROSS THE AREA WERE QUITE VARIABLE...WITH THE VISIBILITY AT MANY
LOCATIONS HOLDING ABOVE A MILE. BUT THE FOG WAS MUCH THICKER AND
REDUCING THE VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN 1/4 MILE IN SOME SPOTS. THE
INCONSISTENCY IN VISIBILITIES WILL CREATE A HAZARD FOR MOTORISTS
THIS MORNING...AS IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO SUDDENLY DRIVE INTO A
BANK OF THICK FOG.

ANYONE TRAVELING THIS MORNING SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE POSSIBILITY
OF ENCOUNTERING DENSE FOG...AND ALLOW A LITTLE EXTRA TRAVEL TIME
TO REACH THEIR DESTINATION. FOG BANKS ARE MOST LIKELY IN LOW-
LYING AREAS AND NEAR RIVERS AND STREAMS. IF YOU ENCOUNTER A FOG
BANK WHILE DRIVING...SLOW YOUR VEHICLE TO THE POINT WHERE YOU WILL
BE ABLE TO SAFELY STOP IF YOU ENCOUNTER AN OBJECT OR ANIMAL ON THE
ROAD. ALWAYS USE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS WHEN DRIVING IN FOG.

POOR VISIBILITIES WERE MUCH MORE COMMON IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN
WISCONSIN...AND NEAR LAKE MICHIGAN FROM STURGEON BAY SOUTHWARD.
PLAN ON A MUCH SLOWER TRIP IF YOU ARE TRAVELING TO EITHER OF THESE
AREAS.
