...RAIN TO CONTINUE OVERNIGHT...

A POWERFUL STORM SYSTEM COMBINED WITH AN INFLUX OF EXTREMELY
MOIST AIR WAS PRODUCING WIDESPREAD RAIN ACROSS WISCONSIN THIS
EVENING. AT 1100 PM...A LARGE AREA OF RAIN COVERED ABOUT THE
NORTHWEST THREE-QUARTERS OF THE STATE. THE RAIN WAS MOVING NORTH
AT ABOUT 40 MPH.

A LULL IN THE PRECIPITATION HAD WORKED INTO SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN.
THAT WILL SHIFT NORTH TOWARD EAST-CENTRAL WISCONSIN...AND MAY
RESULT IN A DECREASE IN THE RAINFALL OVER EAST-CENTRAL WISCONSIN
FOR A TIME OVERNIGHT. HOWEVER...GIVEN THE STRENGTH OF THE STORM
SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH THE AREA...AND THE UNSEASONABLY MOIST AIR
FLOWING INTO WISCONSIN ABOVE THE SURFACE...AT LEAST PERIODS OF
RAIN ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE AREA OVERNIGHT.

RAINFALL TOTALS BY MID-MORNING TUESDAY SHOULD RANGE FROM UP TO AN
INCH OVER FAR NORTH-CENTRAL WISCONSIN...TO 1.5 TO 3 INCHES ACROSS
MUCH OF CENTRAL...EAST-CENTRAL...AND NORTHEAST WISCONSIN.

THE PERSISTENT RAINS WILL LEAD TO SOME PONDING OF WATER IN LOW-
LYING AREAS. SOME STORM SEWER GRATES WILL BECOME PLUGGED WITH THE
LEAVES THAT HAVE FALLEN OFF THE TREES. THAT IS LIKELY TO RESULT IN
SOME PONDING OF WATER IN PARKING LOTS AND SOME STREETS AS WELL.

USE EXTRA CAUTION IF YOU ARE TRAVELING OVERNIGHT.

THE STORM SYSTEM WILL BE SLOW TO EXIT THE AREA...SO PERIODS OF
RAIN WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE WEEK. BUT AFTER TUESDAY
MORNING...THE RAINFALL IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE NEARLY AS HEAVY.

THE HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO EVENTUALLY CAUSE SOME AREA RIVERS TO RISE
TO NEAR BANKFULL...THOUGH IT WILL TAKE A LITTLE TIME FOR THE BULK
OF THE WATER TO REACH RIVER SYSTEMS. BE SURE TO MONITOR LATER
STATEMENTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR INFORMATION ON
THE POTENTIAL FOR RIVERS TO EXCEED BANKFULL.
