FOR SOUTHWESTERN CATAWBA...NORTHEASTERN RUTHERFORD...WESTERN
LINCOLN...CLEVELAND...NORTHWESTERN GASTON AND SOUTHEASTERN BURKE
COUNTIES...

At 256 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 9 miles west of Hickory to 10 miles north of Shelby to
6 miles southwest of Forest City, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect
         considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
         mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include...
Shelby, Lincolnton, Forest City, Rutherfordton, Cherryville,
Spindale, Maiden, Belwood, Lawndale, and Patterson Springs.
