FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MARQUETTE MI
553 AM EDT THU AUG 28 2014

...WET WEATHER RETURNS FRIDAY THROUGH MUCH OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND
WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL TOTALS...

.DISCUSSION...HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE UPPER GREAT LAKES WILL BEGIN TO
SHIFT EAST TODAY. IT WILL PROVIDE PARTLY TO MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH
MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY GENERALLY IN THE 40 TO 50 PERCENT RANGE
THIS AFTERNOON. A SERIES OF DISTURBANCES WILL THEN TRACK NORTHEAST
INTO THE GREAT LAKES...BRINGING SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TO
UPPER MICHIGAN FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. SHOWERS SHOULD BE MOST
WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST HALF OF UPPER MICHIGAN...AND
PRECIPITATION TOTALS BY SATURDAY EVENING COULD RANGE FROM 1 TO AS
MUCH AS 3 INCHES IN THAT AREA. HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRING A DRY DAY
SUNDAY...THEN A VIGOROUS COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP ACROSS UPPER MICHIGAN
ON LABOR DAY...PROVIDING ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
