FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
533 AM EDT Mon Apr 22 2024
...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED TODAY AHEAD OF SHOWERS
TONIGHT AND TUESDAY...
.DISCUSSION: Elevated fire weather conditions are expected across all
of Upper Michigan today as southwesterly winds of 15-20 mph will gust
up to 25-30 mph this afternoon. Mostly sunny skies and efficient
mixing will allow for RHs to fall into the 20s and upper teens except
for the immediate vicinity of the shorelines of the Great Lakes. This
combination of dry and windy conditions has lead to the issuance of a
Special Weather Statement for elevated fire weather conditions. An
Alberta Clipper low will pass southeast through the eastern UP on
Tuesday. This will initially lead to a line of showers passing east
to west tonight which have a chance (~15%) of having thunderstorms.
After a brief break in the showers early Tuesday, rain showers will
turn to snow showers in the north and rain showers with a few
thunderstorms possible (~15%) in the south.
