FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MARQUETTE MI
528 AM EDT THU SEP 18 2014

...DRY TODAY THEN BECOMING RAINY FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY...

.DISCUSSION...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE REGION WILL KEEP CONDITIONS
DRY TODAY AND TONIGHT. SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW WILL THEN INCREASE ON FRIDAY
AHEAD OF A NORTHERN PLAINS FRONTAL SYSTEM WHICH WILL BRING A WARMER AND
HUMID AIR MASS INTO UPPER GREAT LAKES. THIS AIR MASS WILL BE ALLOW FOR
WIDESPREAD RAIN AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS TO SPREAD INTO THE AREA FRIDAY
AFTERNOON INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE
ON SATURDAY AS THE NORTHERN PLAINS COLD FRONT MOVES ACROSS THE FORECAST
AREA. THE BULK OF THE RAIN SHOULD END BY SATURDAY NIGHT...WITH LIGHTER
RAIN SHOWERS STILL POSSIBLE SUNDAY.
