South Chickamauga Creek Near Chickamauga TN affecting Hamilton and Catoosa Counties. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Tennessee... Sequatchie River Near Whitwell TN affecting Bledsoe, Sequatchie and Marion Counties. For the South Chickamauga...including Chickamauga TN...Minor flooding is forecast. For the Sequatchie River...including Whitwell TN...Minor flooding is forecast. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over higher ground. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Portions of Mt. Calvary Road along the river may begin to flood. At 16.0 feet, Flooding of agricultural land becomes more extensive. Water reaches the bottom of the river gage house. Portions of Mt. Flooding begins at golf courses near the confluence of South and West Chickamauga Creeks. West Chickamauga Creek begins to overflow its banks, as well. At 19.0 feet, Water across Mack Smith road begins to impede traffic. West Chickamauga Creek overflows its banks near the Georgia state line and inundates several roads and properties in the area. At 20.0 feet, Mack Smith Road is closed. Water crosses Lovell Field Loop, the access road around the north end of the airport runway. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 AM EDT Friday the stage was 17.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 18.5 feet this evening.
