THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER AT THE FARGO HECTOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
SITE OVERALL WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL WITH RESPECT TO TEMPERATURES.
THERE WERE TWO 90-DEGREE DAYS DURING THE MONTH, ON SEPTEMBER 3 WITH
A VALUE OF 90 DEGREES AND SEPTEMBER 12 WITH A VALUE OF 93 DEGREES.
THE TEMPERATURE ON SEPTEMBER 12 SET A NEW RECORD AND BROKE THE OLD
ONE-DAY RECORD OF 90 DEGREES PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1952. THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 62.0 DEGREES WHICH IS 2.9 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL.

PRECIPITATION FOR SEPTEMBER STARTED OFF BELOW NORMAL FOR THE FIRST
HALF OF THE MONTH. A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN IN THE MIDDLE OF
THE MONTH BROUGHT MUCH WETTER CONDITIONS TO THE AREA. THE HIGHEST
ONE-DAY RAINFALL AMOUNT OCCURRED ON SEPTEMBER 24 WITH A VALUE OF
0.95 INCHES, WHICH WAS THE SECOND HIGHEST ONE-DAY TOTAL FOR THIS
DATE. THE CURRENT RECORD IS 2.07 INCHES AND WAS SET IN 1973. AS A
RESULT, THE TOTAL RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH WAS 2.83 INCHES WHICH IS
0.26 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
