...A WARM AND WET START TO METEOROLOGICAL FALL...

OVERALL IT WAS A WARM SEPTEMBER WITH ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION AT
FORT WAYNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THE MAJORITY OF THE PRECIPITATION
DURING THE MONTH CAME FROM THREE SEPARATE SYSTEMS. IN BETWEEN THESE
SYSTEMS...MUCH OF THE MONTH WAS DRY AND VERY WARM.

THERE WERE 7 DAYS IN SEPTEMBER WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE BELOW
NORMAL AND 5 DAYS WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF AT LEAST 10 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL. THERE WERE TWO DAYS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE
90S...THE 6TH AND 7TH. SEPTEMBER TYPICALLY AVERAGES ABOUT ONE 90
DEGREE DAY.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 68.7 DEGREES...4.4 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL. THIS RANKED AS THE 9TH WARMEST SEPTEMBER ON RECORD.
THIS WAS THE WARMEST SEPTEMBER SINCE 1978. THE AVERAGE HIGH
TEMPERATURE WAS 79.4 WHICH WAS THE 18TH WARMEST ON RECORD. THE
AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 57.9 WHICH WAS THE 8TH WARMEST ON
RECORD.

PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH WAS 5.44 INCHES...2.64 INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL. THIS RANKED AS THE 9TH WETTEST SEPTEMBER ON RECORD...TIED
WITH 2003.
