SYNOPSIS...
   ...EXCEPTIONAL DROUGHT REMAINS NON-EXISTENT ACROSS NEW MEXICO...
   ...BUT 96 PERCENT PERCENT OF THE STATE IS IN MODERATE TO EXTREME
      DROUGHT...

FEBRUARY PRECIPITATION WAS BELOW NORMAL ACROSS NEW MEXICO WITH A
STATEWIDE AVERAGE OF JUST 27 PERCENT OF NORMAL.

NEW MEXICO PRECIPITATION FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR SO FAR...JANUARY
THROUGH FEBRUARY...WAS ONLY 16 PERCENT...RANGED FROM 27 PERCENT
IN THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS CLIMATE DIVISION TO 6 PERCENT IN THE
SOUTHERN DESERTS CLIMATE DIVISION. THIS FIRST TWO MONTHS IS THE
DRIEST START OF ANY YEAR ON RECORD.

THE 2014 WATER YEAR SO FAR...OCTOBER 2013 THROUGH FEBRUARY
2014...AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION WAS 50 PERCENT OF NORMAL.
THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS CLIMATE DIVISION HAD THE HIGHEST AVERAGE AT
73 PERCENT OF NORMAL WHILE THE SOUTHERN DESERTS HAD THE LOWEST AT
31 PERCENT.

SEVERAL PUBLIC RECREATION AREAS ARE CLOSED...IN AREAS WHERE LARGE
WILD FIRES BURNED IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS.

CLIMATE SUMMARY...

JANUARY THROUGH DECEMBER 2013 STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION AVERAGED
0.68 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL ACCORDING THE NATIONAL CLIMATIC DATA
CENTER. MEANWHILE...TEMPERATURES WERE 0.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOKS...

THE NOAA CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK FOR NEW MEXICO FROM
APRIL THROUGH JUNE 2014 IS WEIGHTED TOWARD WARMER THAN NORMAL
CONDITIONS...WHILE THERE ARE about EQUAL CHANCES OF ABOVE
NORMAL...NORMAL OR BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION.
